The Promise of Blockchain: Ideal Mediation or Illusive Transactions
The Promise of Blockchain: Ideal Mediation or Illusive Transactions was a talk for the Creative Backslash conference (which I continually keep misreading as Creative Backlash - wouldn't that be a fun one?) in 2019. It focuses on the narratives of implementing blockchain to facilitate creative processes, both as methodology and as technology. It offers a short introduction to what blockchain is and how it technically works, the mechanisms of which feed directly into conceptions of creative collaboration. Placing it in the history of ICT, we observe use cases and open up the question of evaluating the benefits, misconceptions, failures and presumed added value (pun intended).
